October is a month full of sweet celebrations from national dessert day to Halloween. To celebrate, we want to spend some time focusing on two of our sweet wines. Both our Riesling and our Sweet Red Blend can be enjoyed alone or better yet paired with your dessert favorites.
Our 2015 Riesling is a late season wine. The grapes were grown in the cool climate of Lake County, North Coast. The grapes had a long ripening on the vine which allowed them to dimple and become high in sugar. Once picked, the grapes were basket pressed with a lot of pressure and fermented in stainless steel creating a wine with a light to medium body with fair amounts of sweetness but not overpowering. The Riesling’s pronounced flavors of apricot, honeysuckle, nectarine and spiced pears with acidity in perfect balance, making it a perfect match for delicate desserts like almond cookies, crème brulée and poached pears.
If chocolate is your sweet preference, our 2017 Sweet Red Blend could be the perfect pairing. This wine displays the aromas and flavors of sweet oak, espresso, red fruits, and black pepper. It has a finesse of dried plum and savory sage with an opaque deep purple color. At the finish, soft tannins linger with caramel, fudge and vanilla flavors. The complexity and richness of the wine stands up beautifully to chocolate and other rich desserts.
Find both of our sweet wines in our shop, along with all our award winning wines.
We wish you a sweet October!
